Young Driver AMR, Marco Sørensen and Nicki Thiim are the 2016 World Champions in the GTE Pro class, the premier class in international GT racing. At the final round of the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) in Bahrain, Marco Sørensen and Nicki Thiim sealed the drivers and teams championship of the GTE Pro class with their second win of the season in the #95 Young Driver AMR-Aston Martin Vantage. „It can’t any better than this: We won the drivers and the teams title and also the final race of this season“, said Young Driver AMR´s Jan Struve after the team took the second world championship title in three years. In 2014, Young Driver AMR won the World Championship in the GTE Am class.
Marco Sørensen and Nicki Thiim extended their GTE Pro class championship lead in the penultimate round of the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) in Shanghai/China. The two Young Drivers finished fourth in class in the eight of nine rounds of the World Championship in the Aston Martin Racing entered Young Driver AMR-Aston Martin Vantage V8. The Danish Duo further extended their lead in the Drivers World Championship when they finished ahead of their closest championship contenders in a Ferrari.
Young Driver AMR has maintained its lead in the GTE Pro class drivers and teams championship of the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC). At the 6 Hours of Fuji in Japan, the seventh of nine rounds of the world championship, Marco Sørensen and Nicki Thiim finished fifth in the Aston Martin Racing entered #95 Young Driver AMR-Aston Martin Vantage V8. With two rounds to go in China and Bahrain in November, Sørensen/Thiim lead the championship by a margin of ten points.
